I keep thinking I should update with some photos, but then I get online and realize I have oodles of readings to do for homework. I do not like having my syllibi all online. I avoid the computer to get work DONE, not to discover that all my work is UNDONE.
A written calendar is much needed.
In the meantime, I will take advantage of this rainy afternoon to attempt to recollect some of the happenings of the past few weeks here in Champaign. I still don't feel quite moved in, but that is largely because my mother brought me two more bookshelves and I forgot to grab the big box of books that I intended to put on them while stopping through Chicago last weekend. At least they give a hint to the library nook I am cultivating outside my study/office/nook/thing.

Where I spend large portions of my time.
Having my computer set up and illuminated by my soft Ikea desk lamp makes my space much more my own. Sometimes it saddens me that to feel at home, I need to have a computer and desk set up, but then I remind myself that a desk is a way to organize many of the personal items I like to keep near me while I work. I have my Swedish flag from Sanna and my Fat Hippo from Christine, not to mention my stationary and many academically oriented books.

There is another shelf right there --->
Right outside my work space, I have my small but growing library. I am finally beginning to bring all my books into the same place. With the number of pieces of furniture and the number of trips it took to get all the things that are here here, I will be needing a van the next time I move. I'm not sure how I feel about this, but I do like having space for a library. I even have a catalogue of all my books going in Excel so I know what I have and who I lent various books to. Yes. I am a nerd.

My kitchen, the sloped down end.
I just purchased some yeast today to make some bread this weekend, but this week I have finally begun to break in my kitchen. On the first chilly day we had, the beginning of this weeks storms, I made a stew, followed by some ration-inspired, over-sized, vegan cupcakes. Instead of eggs to bind, vinegar! They are quite moist, but I wrapped them in foil, so they are a bit stickytothefoily and not very pretty for pictures. I hope to make some cinnamon apple buns this weekend. We'll see how industrious I get.

The living room, at an awkward angle.
Thanks to Teresa coming down two weeks ago, I am now the owner of a futon! Assembled in perhaps a mere half hour or hour, it provides sleeping for two (and I also have a twin mattress, so please come visit!!). I wish my living room had more windows, but I just leave all the doors open and pretend that the windows in adjacent rooms are enough.

Bedroom! New comforter. And don't let those floors deceive you. They are evil.
Sleepytime! Or sit in a cat chair time. There are so many places to curl up and read, I almost don't know where to sit. So I just sit in them all. Do, come join!
